Upcoming concerts

Steven has a busy couple of weeks ahead.  Having spent his annual week at the Open Chamber Music session of the International Musicians’ Seminar at Prussia Cove, Cornwall, he will travel to Moscow to perform Haydn’s D major cello concerto with the Moscow Soloists under Yuri Bashmet at a special concert in memory of Mstislav Rostropovich (with whom Steven performed the same concerto many years ago in St Petersburg). From Moscow he goes straight to Budapest, to play in several concerts at a festival dedicated to Liszt and his influence, organised by Steven’s friend and musical partner Dénes Várjon. Among the many works that Steven will perform will be Thomas Adès’ Lieux Retrouvés, receiving its Hungarian premiere, and Beethoven’s C major sonata, op 102 no 1, which Steven will play with the great Hungarian musician and teacher Ferenc Rados.  From Budapest, Steven and Dénes will go to the Beethovenhaus in Bonn, where they will give two full recitals exploring Liszt’s influence, and also Beethoven’s influence on Liszt. This mini-series will also include the German premiere of Adès’ Lieux Retrouvés.
